Shed a tear? No. Perhaps have some human compassion. What you describe is discrimination which I BELIEVE is ilegal. Course so is buying a private sector company and the government had no problem doing that now did that. I think ill save my compassion for the family that has to chose between asthma medication and food. As for your second point I don't know what your referring to as discrimination, I clearly came out against someone who made more then me paying an unjust amount higher than me. I also came out against the flat tax which is the only other option besides a sliding scale. I will concede that I was straw maning you a little in my second post but your third comment has NOTHING to do with the rest of the conversation. I at no time said I was for government take over of business I simply said in my first post that didn't care if some rich prick had to pay more taxes. If you had read my first post instead of trying to make me look inconsiderate to the Dow 500, or like just another lefty that hates big business!!! You would have seen that i'm mostly on your side. I believe in personal freedom I believe you should be able to alter your consciences any way you want to, you should be able to love and marry any one you want to, be able to own a house, and start a business, I just don't see a sliding tax scale as unfair and I don't see government services as "socialism". I would like to re-iterate, in big text so you hear me this time: Stop fighting like a bunch of little kids in the sandbox, and come to a goddam conclusion so the problem can actually be solved.

Yeah because people who work hard and earn lots of money should be treatly diffrently then people who are making less money. Hey why stop there. Why not tax everyone who has a higher position in the work force then you more. And hey what about those family airlooms worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you have one of those we should tax you more too. Taxing someone MORE simpy because they became sucesful is rediculas. Your just assuming everyone who has money is just a ritch asshole. You know ignoring the fact that most rich people give 100s of thousands if not millions a year to charites. Lets tax them just cuz they make more money then us. Yeah that's the american spirit. NO not every one that makes slightly more than I do or has a higher position at the same job deserves to pay a hell of a lot more then I do I never said that. Are your seriously expecting me to shed a tear for some multi billionaire? We need taxes, with out taxes we don't have firefighters we don't have cops we don't have public schools, roads, the post office, and a metric shit ton of other things. A flat tax does one of two things sets the bar to high and the middle class suffers or sets the bar way to low so that nobody has trouble paying them but we have no way to pay for any thing in the country. Is this an over simplification? probably, but you can't tell me that a flat tax benefits any one but the rich. So basicly what your saying is we should PUNISH people for working hard and being sucessful.

so then why use the word punish? also, it is the civic duty of people to pay taxes. but then again, i agree that people shouldn't pay more just because they make more.

Because what he puts forward is to make people pay more because they make more money. that's punishing them.

As of right now the plan states that couples making over 250,000 and singles making over 200,000 will receive a tax increase of .09 percent.
