Explain why below.
Note: If you chose answer 8, or not, which types of tragic backstories do you consider cliches?

Sorry, the question didn't show up on the board when I posted this. The question was about how you felt as far as tragic origins go in movies and other stories as far as fictional characters go, not real life.

i like it as long as the character learns to move on. It gets a little boring if every 5 seconds he's moping about what happened to him.

I do have a respect for a character if they move on. even villains. the fact is if you can overcome something like being tortured in a prison camp for years then its something to admire. Granted, i usually give more props to the heroes.

yeah i like them but after the umpteenth time its like ok how bout you come down from the cross use the wood to build a bridge and get over it already ya know Yeah take Superboy-prime for example he's always whining about "My earth was SO much better than THEIRS, I want MY earth back" Dude just get over it!

I think superboy Prime does get over it and he moves to other grudges. it's more about defeat for him than him loosing his earth. Granted it is still in his mind but he talks about about how he hates the legion and superman a lot more than his earth being gone.

the most tragic backstory: baby is born nearly dies whole family killed in explosion sent to boarding school where he is abused by priests joins the Mafia gets a hit put on him and dies. know most tragic backstory is ur FAMILY BEING MURDERED IN FRONT OF UR EYES BY MAFIA THUGS WHEN U WER JUST IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME. However to u the best backstory has to be geroge bush losing his impotence.
