okay, i'm not stranger to GI Joe.
i probably loved watching the series as much as i loved Transformers G1.
however, while my love for all things Transformers has remained strong, i can't say the same for GI Joe.
i hated the DIC series, but i also hated the Beast Era from Transformers, but somehow i weathered those dark times, and remained loyal to Transformers... but GI Joe died for me.
i've tried picking up the various DDP and Dreamwave series, but never kept up with it.
but this new continuity in IDW has me pretty jazzed.
with three inter-locking series running, you can tell that a lot of planning and effort was put into the three on-goings, unlike the train-wreck Dreamwave's series was.
while i don't think the writing has been as epic as some comics out there, i do find it to be pretty enjoyable.
with the movie coming out later this year, i really do hope that new comers to the universe start picking it up, and we can finally have a GI Joe storyline that isn't a mess.

Wethered the Beast era? Beast Wars was the darkest and deepest Transformers series.
I'm picking up the trade of the original comics soon. Most fans of GI Joe have told me the Cartoon isn't very good but the original comic series the the best Joe thing ever (much like Simon Furmon's stuff one the Transformers comic in the 80's)

I love this series. I thought it was a well done , well thought out reboot of the franchise. For instance at the start of the series Gi joe doesn;t even know Cobra exsists. The relationship between characters has been re imaginged, like the first meeting between the baroness and destro see her trying to kill him,. We don,t see cobra commader for a long time.
